Had to take my younger son to some event. Thinking I know where this is, started driving in a wrong direction. Then after about an hour I thought I was near the place, and asked my son to start the GPS. I was 3 hrs away, and apparently, I don't know this place.

Sort of thing I used to do all the time - before the days of GPS.
Kids would ask where we were.

Maps and signs got millions of people coast to coast for many decades.
Most places I go these days I know the route without help.

Don't feel bad. One time I tried to make it to the Chicago Zoo, on a first date. I ended bringing my new girlfriend (then wife, then ex-wife) to Gary Indiana instead....

GPS can be a real help but, it can also put you in the bay. Happened in Whittier, Ak. when the GPS sent the driver down a boat launch ramp. GPS is great but, the app and/or app developer can have bad information and GPS depends on a minimum of three satellites for dead on accuracy as I understand it.

That sucks!

I did this on a trip to Kansas before GPS, I went right passed my exit and drove for 3 hours in the wrong direction.

I had already been driving for 15 hours, so It didn't seem so bad.

I manage to get lost or miss my exit pretty regularly with or without a map or GPS. I don’t mind that much except when my wife is there to point it out and make a big deal about it(which is almost always)
