Wrong Stem?

Good evening gentlemen. I have received a message from a customer telling me that this stem is not the original K & P Peterson stem. Please could I have the opinions of you good people?

Your customer is right. That stummel was designed for a bent stem, like pictured-

I agree with supperthyme. A straight stem doesn't make sense with that pipe.

I once tried a bent stem on my Morgan cob, and that's why it's charred on the proximal side of the bowl.

I also tried it the other way: put a straight stem on a bent cob and burned the distal portion of the bowl!
