Snuff and tobacco manufacture started at the building on Lowther Street back in 1792 and continued until Gawith Hoggarth & Co moved to the new industrial unit in the early 2000's. The building has stood empty since.

However, after a couple of years of planning and surveys, work has finally started on renovations. We have exciting plans for a shop, small museum and new offices as well as a couple of residential apartments.

We'll post updates as work progresses.
