Oh you mean I'm gonna die of something one day? Kewl! The next life is better I believe anyway.
I'm not gonna rush it, but I'll try to get all the enjoyment out of this one until then. My "new car smell" is gone anyway, so bring on the Latakia!
What kind of advise did you expect to get from a fully satisfied pipe smoker anyway?

Careful about driving cars, or walking down the street. You might want to stay away from crack and meth though, I hear they are really not good for ya.
Oh and 19 years olds with "mild hairy tongues" is not from smoking, no wait thats "hairy palms", my bad.

well you are young, still baby faced, heck you still are new at this, about the hairy tongue it can be from various things, you should always drink plenty of water, brush your teeth about 3 time a day, especially after smoking and buy you a tongue scraper to keep your mouth really clean, your mouth may be too dry, and you may be consuming lots of coffee, alcohol or carbonated beverages also when you smoke from a pipe, you should smoke slow and not like a train, it will burn your mouth, I did that when I was starting and I did get roof bite and tongue bite and my mouth was swollen a bit, but go to the doctor first and get your self checked out.

If you're 19 you're supposed to smoke pot, get drunk and get laid to deal with stress.

interesting story folks, I was 19 when I started going to school to become a medical assistant, we were learning about different kinds of rashes and how to give a proper injections, I remember that one of my classmates brought his friend while we were eating lunch, and his friend wanted to show us his tongue, he was worried because he thought it was cancer, he had hairs on his tongue it was whitish and it was split down the middle, I was in awe, I had never seen nothing like it, dint know what to tell him so I asked him, what was the last thing he ate or the last thing he put in his mouth, he said that he had met this girl the day before at a club and the he took her home for some "late night tea" well he had went downtown on the woman and when he woke up he felt that his mouth was tingly, after some hours later he noticed that he started growing the hairs in his tongue, well it turns out that the woman had a yeast infection!! and wasn't considerate to tell the poor fella, all in all he had some kind of yeas infection in his tongue, so be careful boys, always take care on where you put your mouths, especially if its a one night stand with a stranger.

Yea I got a mouth problem, on these electronic devices it becomes a fingers problem, combating uneducated idiots. I should learn restraint and take a high road.
Anyway, yea I get sugar bumps on the tongue. I wonder sometimes if the pipe causes this. But it could be sweets and salty foods too.

So I conclude that, in your general opinion, my problems aren't so uncommon as I guessed. I'll think about it and probably smoke on my pipe more occasionaly. Thanks, men, for the advices.

When I started I got a lot of mouth sores and my tounue was a bit swollen , and that was because of the aromatics, they produce lots of steam when they are moist, smoking moist aromaticas like a train will bit your mouth, after months of practice, I don't get mouth sores, I think my tongue and mouth has gotten a bit seasoned and have less problems when smoking a pipe.

I live in Brazil. We don't have an easy access to non aromatic mixtures. All native pipe tobaccos are aromatics and the international ones that aren't illegal to sell here are half and half, capitain black and borkum (shitty) riff. But it's very common to find pure tobacco for straw cigarettes and diy cigarettes. Are they fair good to smoke on a pipe?

Depends on the tobacco and your standards, probably. My impression of RYO in my area is that it is less flavorful and more dry than pipe tobacco. But, you can work with that. Might be worth a try if you can get a pinch from a friend or a local seller.
Brazil, you say?

Yes. Here in Brazil there are few smokers, in comparison with the world. Even much less pipe tobacco smokers. Besides, the big bureaucracy and heavy state influence in the economy makes hard for the tobacco markets to sell here. For each product they wanna sell, must be paid a large amount of money. In the end, it doesn't generate good profit to the companies. To get a nice famous blend, the only way is to smug it.
Sarcófago is a legend here hahahahah. I like Sepultura, Angra and Shaman very much. Have you heard of them?

If you can get your hands on pure Virginia and stick it in a jar for a year it should be pretty good no matter what it was originally intended for.

If you can add a pinch of blending Perique, even better.

Another +1 for Warren. If anything, anything about the pipe hobby causes concern, worry, or stress, stop it now before you have more than you can afford invested in this. It gets much harder to stop later on.
However, if you want top learn how to pull more enjoyment from the hobby... and smell bad, have the doctors shake fingers at you, policemen pull you over with suspicion of what's in your pipe, people laugh at how antiquated you are, call you a hipster, never have any extra money, and constantly standing in the cold for hours smoking your pipe, then welcome to the forums!!!

If smoking stresses you, I'd say don't do it. Most of us live with some stress and enjoy it, and likely you do too. The stress of competition, challenge, family life, romance, and so on. But if you have stress that is gnawing at you, and you can eliminate it, I'd do so. Perhaps you can dial back your pipe smoking so it doesn't stress you -- once a day, once a week. But if the idea bothers you and makes you feel vulnerable about your health, I wouldn't do it. People keep pointing out how young you are, and you are, but being young makes you subject to a lot of stress, all the changes, added responsibilities, finding your way through education and to a work life. So, if smoking is distressing, leave it alone.

Cosmic, in the end pipe smoking looks very good hahahahah. You're right, the man must feel he was born to smoke a pipe to do so...
Mso489, thanks for the wise words. Indeed; seeing my tongue getting yellowish, thanks to tobacco, makes me a bit stressed. But it's somehow a paradox: I get worried about the health problems, however smoking is a relaxing habit to me - so I end up quitting and comming back several times. Well, I feel I'm starting to manage this preoccupation as far as I smoke not so frequently.
