The statue is nearing completion. I attached the head and octopus arms Monday; I have to finish the face and add wings, do some final modeling, then let it dry for firing, after which I will stain it. The big concern is how much it will crack in the drying process (all those tentacles, you see). Cross your fingers!

Sorry you are going to have to miss it, sparrowhawk. It was obvious how much you wanted to. Be sure and post your sculpture if it turns out, sounds interesting.

Thanks for your condolences, gents. But as a student of Emerson, these things balance out. I will have more time for sculpture, more time for my giant (40 inch) drawing, and more time to write stories. So it evens out.

I don't understand the wizard thing--is that a D&D rating?--but as a pen and ink artist, I received a "Recommended Artist" in the Datlow collection, Year's Best in Horror and Fantasy (13th edition). As for the sculpture, until this current one, I haven't touched clay in over 35 years.
