I wasn't sure I should watch the game instead of youTube church, which I'll play later, but I chose the game. I surmise that France was over-confident and wasn't fully focused in the first half. Argentina played the better game, so they were ready when it came down to penalty kicks. Some of the commentators were proclaiming it the best Cup final in living history. People will debate, but it had that feel. My wife enjoyed the high drama and suspense too.

It ran so long, Fox had to jump to football rather than broadcast the after-game ceremonies.

I am not sure they were over confident. 3 or 4 starters caught a virus only two days ago. And France always play this slow control game. When it doesn't work, they can look really lethargic. That's what they looked like during the euros. Despite the attacking talent, they don't play to suit it. Argentina was amazing for the first 70 mins, but I think their substitutions made them unbalanced.

Am not a soccer fan, but am gripped by an enigmatic question-why do soccer players so often rip off their jerseys to celebrate a win? That seems to be the only sport where that occurs.⚽

I don't know. Probably, they get very excited and lose control. However excited they get they'll never get as excited as Marco Tardelli got when he scored in the World Cup final.

Now that really shows what it means to score in the final.

Yesterday afternoon I suddenly remembered it was world cup day so checked online for which TV channel was showing the 7pm kick off.

Well I soon found out it started at 3pm and as I was watching the live game Argentina scored another goal giving them a 3-2 lead over France. I watched the ball go in the goal before it was quickly kicked out by a French player but the ball certainly went in the goal.

So my question is, if Argentina were up 3-2, why did it go to a penalty shoot out?

I switched off at that point but today learn the final score was 4-2 to Argentina.

I'm puzzled.

Regards,

Jay.

BTW, go to Google and type in 'World Cup score 2022' and watch your screen get filled with fireworks!

Well, you turned it off before France tied. That’s what happened.

Here’s the summary. No Golden Goals anymore.

Full play way two 45 minute half’s and then two 15 minute overtime half’s.

It was tied 3-3 so it went to penalty kicks
