Well done USA.
Getting a 1-1 against England yesterday was a big suprise to many soccer fans.

I hope to see USA go far in the cup. What I don't mind missing is those wacky Vuvuzela thingies the fans down in South Africa is tooting like maniacs all the time.
Tomorrow Denmark is up against Holland. That's quite a mouthful

Hey Steen!
There are a number of "Soccer/Football" fans on this site.

I unfortunately don't understand the complicated scoring system that is used in Soccer.

This 1-1 thing is so confusing... you know... "GOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!"

It should have a much simpler scoring system like "American Football" you know with points system of 6, 1, 3, and 2. Touchdown, Point After Touchdown, Field Goal, and Going for Two.
Denmark against Holland.... I feel sorry for the announcers.... (Just Kidding.)

I might actually watch, it might prove interesting. Oh by the way... GO DENMARK!
:)

I'm with you.

In Denmark most people are confused about the rules in "american football".

I guess it's all about where you're from - and what you grew up with.

We actually do have an american football league in Denmark, but since nobody understand the rules, it's not very big here ;-)

It's not all that complicated.

It's just a ground acquisition game, and the scoring simply reflects the the quantity of the ground gained.

A touchdown for example is a total conquering of the opponents territory, the point after touchdown (PAT) a reward for that touchdown. The Two Point Conversion is a tactical maneuver to out distance the opponent or change the opponents scoring strategy.

The Field Goal, is only a measure of partial success in conquering the opponents territory.

Otherwise, it's just fun to watch the teams beat each other up.
:)
Oh yeah!
WAR EAGLE!!!!!

Is that what that droning is?

Sounds like a giant swarm of Killer Bees, very annoying.

Germany and Austria are on the boob tube right now.

Oh-oh, someone got tripped..... bummer.
I am hoping that I get the chance to watch tomorrow's game(sorry) match.

It will be cool actually having a team to pull for.

GO DENMARK!

OMG!

The Match is at 6:00 in the morning!

How can anybody play a game at that un-godly hour, much less have a heart beat?

:)
Oh what the hell... I'll just move the coffee pot into the man cave.
:)

Sorry Steen. Holland has a great team, but Denmark still has it's chances in later matches.
Congats to USA for improbable draw. USA better than in 50 years.
My family never misses a Germany match. They look very strong.

South Korea looks good. Want to see Spain play.

The World Cup is my favorite sporting event. Such a clash of styles, and cultures.

I watched this morning through the steam of my coffee. I'm bummed out... but, Mick is right... according to what I heard from the announcers/experts.
If you want to watch a proper world tournament, the Rugby world cup starts next year. And it is WELL worth a watch. I'd like to see someone like Reggie Bush take his pads off and have a go at that sport...
I really love Rugby... there is a better than decent rugby club here in Birmingham...Alabama.

I love their bumper stickers too. "It take leather balls to play rugby."

You can check the world clock
I placed a bet yesterday, that Mexico would beat France, and my bookmaker gave me odds 4.10 - so that's a little extra cash :)

Thanks Steen.

Congratulations on the wager.

I don't bet on sports or Wall Street, because I don't gamble.

I play poker, and wager on the horses.... that's science.

Cool I can have that extra martini tonight. :)
GO DENMARK.
You are right Steen, I watched the Cameroon match after Saturday's travesty tragedy.

Did any of you watch USA make the almost impossible today?

Man, did they fight to win that game - I won't spoil it for you, in case you're going to watch later on today, but you're in for one helluva 90 minutes

Germany was cheated today, against Serbia. Never seen so many bad calls for yellow cards.

Some people will never forgive, or forget.

Hey Steen, Mick,
Man that was a bad call, in the USA game.

But, Sh*t happens.
A couple of weeks ago, there was the last-out "safe" call for only the 27th perfect game in the history of Major League Baseball.

It was a shame the pitcher was robbed.

But.... The Umpire "Manned Up" and admitted he made a mistake then apologized to the rookie pitcher (who by the way looks like he has real future) for the bad call, and received a standing-O at the next game in the same ball park.

Both the pitcher and the Ump are classy guys.

Both displayed "real sportsmanship".
This limp d*ck rookie ref will just hide.

Damn Shame.

Listen to me going on about Soccer.... Scary.
