My wife reviewed restaurants for Newsday (Long Island) for years, and her favorite worst restaurant name, place in Queens, which was a Chinese family name, was:

Fuk Yu

She and her friends tried valiantly to explain the problem to the owners, but the restaurant finally closed. The food was, uh, pretty good.

My own favorite, which is a N.C. coastal tradition and a wonderful seafood place is, as it has always been, Sanitary Seafood Market. Oh, thank goodness. But it is both an excellent seafood market and restaurant. In Morehead City, N.C., don't miss it. I haven't been there in years, but I trust it is maintaining its standards. Try the Bogue Sound clam chowder, the shrimp cocktail, and if they are running, the Spanish Mackerel with its distinctive flavor. Soft shell crab is another favorite when in season. Their Brunswick Stew and hush puppies make a meal in themselves. Oh to be in Morehead City now that spring is here.

That reminds me of this Chinese place near me.

@Kilgore Trout did you happen to frequent it during your Pratt days?

It’s never a good joke if you have to explain it, but I guess I gave you guys too much credit.

That IHOP I posted above in Gastonia, NC is on Cox Rd. When you’d call and get some punk kid to answer, he’d say “IHOP on Cox, how can I help you?” and proceed to giggle like Beavis and Butthead.

I would have never known about it but my first roommate in college was from Gastonia and apparently worked there. I didn’t let him forget that.
