Some nice pipes!! Can't believe the $1300 Volcano!! Beautiful pipe for sure but that's a serious wedge of cash @Nate..... :)

At first glance the bowl looks topped to me. I wanted to see some of the sellers other auctions before saying anything. After looking at the sellers other auctions, I am leaning towards "I have no clue", lol. Maybe you or some of the repairers and pipe makers here will read this and shed some light on it. :) I am still learning things about this hobby and I could be completely off base here.

That definitely looks topped. And very much topped in the 1/4" range. They didn't even try to stain match.

I see what you mean....
If it is topped it would have been very big bowl to start with - it is the biggest of my pipes. Haven't smoked it yet as I only got it today.
here's a pic comparing with my others

I am still a novice though.....

Nothing wrong with a topped bowl if you like it and she smokes well then "shizza!", nice pipe. :)

Thanks for the concern! I'll definitely be on the look out for a topped bowl in the future when I'm cruising eBay!
It still has a bowl depth of 31mm (about 1 1/8 inches) so I don't think it will be too shallow, + it only cost a tenner so no real harm! :)

beerandbaccy, nonetheless, as it now stands, I'd call it as a pot shape, now that it is (probably) topped. The base of the bowl isn't pot-like, but the short bowl with a wide diameter is. Or maybe I'm over-thinking.

This Lorenzetti free hand (I think) was my latest.

OK, so not EXACTLY a Barling for $45, but considering what it is, a very good buy.
Had it in my watch list (was not a bidder). When I saw the final price, I thought "Someone got a good deal...", glad to hear it was you! :D

Never had much luck in the past but won 4 auctions in the last two days. A nice GBD Bulldog and about a dozen beaters to practice restorations on (many Willards).

Hi Dave! Thanks! I'm pleased! I was prepared to go mucho higher, based on the condition I saw in the photographs. So many of these quaints were nailed by slack jawed imbeciles wielding buffers. The planing and rustication look pretty crisp.

Peterson Meerschaum-Lined 407 with P-Lip

I had never seen a Meerschaum-lined Peterson until I ran across this listing. Didn't even know it was a thing. Couldn't pass on it, and glad I didn't - it smokes great :puffpipe:
