There's a lot of chatter right now about Williams Mug Soap being discontinued on the internet, I'm wondering if it's simply rumors or if it's in fact being discontinued. There are several posts about it with people stating they contacted the company and recieved a reply stating it's being discontinued. Luckily for me I found it in stock at Walmart after checking regularly for it at the same location, so I bought them out and got 12 pucks. Personally I like it, you have to know how to use it, and it's one of the few soaps that's safe to use to condition a strop. After using it on my Pike Horsehide strop I lucked out and found for 10$ it's really softened it up.

I was getting low on my "boutique" soap my wife gave me, so I stocked up with Williams. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah the website is still there but I don't know, the strange thing is the walmart never stocks more than 5 pucks at a time and last night they had 12 when I bought them out, which makes me think maybe williams is clearing out their stock

Either way I have 11 pucks as I gifted one to my co-worker who got me into straight razor shaving and williams mug soap and how to lather it properly. It was rather funny to return from break with a bag full of pucks after he'd been at the same store the day before and no luck.

There's a boutique shaving store at the mall that sells straight razors and two-edged safety razors, expensive boar bristle brushes, and soaps, strops and other shaving gear. Recently, I noticed Walgreens now sells two-edged safety razors and a set with a brush, soap cup, soap and rack. In the Navy, I mostly used a safety razor, just to avoid having to hunt down an electric outlet, but I could never get a good lather with cup soap in the time I had to shave, so I have always used canned shaving soap. I have an electric razor as a back-up for when there's even less time.

Being a long time fan of the Aramis shave puck it is even harder to find .Muhle Sea Buckthorn is great soap for DE and I also like Speick stick for the straight razor . Now if I could just find a good Lime soap . AOS tubs with the soft soap are my favorite of all time and they are down to about 24.00 bucks now , that's a pretty good deal and they seem to last about nine months .

Stores are still selling Williams, it's the part is it actually being discontinued or is this some kind of internet rumor? In other straight razor news, my buddy discovered if you use water based lube on your hones you get a wicked edge. It makes sense, haven't tried it yet just heard about it yesterday but my friend is the biggest straight razor enthusiast I've ever met. I'm definitely going to try it, he may just have revolutionized honing.

What a great advertisement this is. Looks like it's more panic buying for me!

I just spoke with a woman named Cathy in Customer Service at Combe Incorporated in New York state, and she informed me that (despite the Internet rumors, of which they are aware) Williams Mug Shaving Soap has NOT been discontinued. She also stated that its distribution is limited, which explains why it is difficult to find in certain areas. She stated that this is a niche product which does not "fly off the shelves" in many outlets, so it is available only where there is demand.
If you want to purchase this product where you shop, then please contact Combe (800.431.2610) and let them know. They won't know there is a demand unless they hear from you.

I love Williams shaving soap.Used to find it at Kroger and my CVS. Not any longer. I wondered if they had closed up shop.

Thanks Hunter!

I was in a Food Basics in Hamilton last weekend and there was an abundance of this soap there so it is available in Ontario.
