Most of you get wild weather. In the Northwest we get rain, some flooding, lite snow once in a while, and sun in the months of July and August. Two days ago we got the worst lightening storm in the NW's modern history - over 500 strikes an hour for 12 hours. It was incredible to see. Sat on the couch with my pipe and enjoyed it.

Has the weather started turning in your areas?

Autumn is making inroads into the heat of summer here in NJ. Temps dropped to 72 high yesterday with low humidity, and 50s last night.
The best time of the year is about to begin!

I enjoy lightning displays and violent stormy weather in general. The only problem is an occasional power outage; and in Chicago, ComEd is usually slow to restore it. That in itself is only a problem because most of us depend on sump pumps. I don't understand why electric power can't be delivered like internet access, which circumvents localized problems.

Its Global Warming I tells ya, Al Gore was right. He invented it you know. Right after he invented the internet. One of these days Al Bore will catch ManBearPig, which he invented also.
ManBearPig: half man, half bear, half pig. Every bit as real as global warming!

plateauguy do you live on the Sammamish Plateau? If so, we should get together for a smoke. I live in Bellevue now.

I live on a mini farm on the Enumclaw Plateau. When winter comes and things slow down I'll try to get together.

I am up in the Skagit Valley. We got some pretty fantastic lightning as well.

This was taken by my friend.

Yes, that night I was sitting out on my deck enjoying a pipe, when the lightning started to get uncomfortably close (I live on Tiger Mountain, south of Issaquah). So, I get up, and head for the door, when a black bear sow and cub come crashing into the yard, obviously freaked out by the thunder and lightning. Definitely time to get indoors! Never a dull moment on Tiger Mountain (but, fortunately, we have no tigers). (yet).

The lighting has gotten pretty bad if you continue East into Idaho (I haven't seen the lighting ever get bad out here before), it ruined several late night smokes for me.

I live on the east side of Washington, close to the Idaho border. Have watched a lot of lightening but mostly to the east. Love to watch while enjoying a pipe.
