Hi guys, the pipe thing is basically a new endeavour for me as I have little knowledge of this past time.

I'm getting into pipes after having been a cigarette smoker and getting off of them and a maturing of my pursuits :)

I quite like the appeal of Churchwardens, and cob pipes as well. For a more classic (to me anyway) look, I have noted different Author style pipes and what really is catching my eye are the ones with thick stems and what appears to be wide mouthpieces.

I'm wondering is there a specific name for this type of stem or is it just a type that manufacturers use as needed to flow with the lines of a particular design? I'm asking as if there is a specific mouthpiece name, it would make it easier for me to search obviously.

Also, is there a website that actually specializes in supplying the various styles of stems (with their dimensions) where a fellow could order from?

I live in British Columbia Canada and find up here, pales horribly with what's available in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Thanks for any suggestions and/or help folks!!!
