Why Aren't P-Lips Proprietary?

It's not to mop up moisture (there's a filter in the way) but any time i run a pipe cleaner through it.

It literally scrapes groves in the stem, that's what it feels like anyway.

The bend in the stem, about 1" from the P-lip is a heavy wear item from a pipe cleaner, so be careful. (I've repaired holes in that area)

I bought a Savinelli dry system just to compare with my Petersons, not a bad pipe and smokes quite well, there isn't a draught hole in the top, more of a slot, I still prefer my Peterson's though.

Nothing new about it. My 1938 GBD dealers catalog shows lines of pipes with P-lips.
