Well, blame this post on @Chasing Embers ... he got me started! Who are your favorite smoking pals?

Here are my smoking pals...

First, we have Molly Dog, she is an 8 yo Dachshund Beagle mix, who came to us when my Aunt Mary passed away 4 years ago.

Next, we have our newest member of the family, JoJo. JoJo is a rescue we got a couple of weeks ago, and is a 5 yo American Bull Dog Mix. And FYI... JoJo went NUTS when I let her smell the Country Squire 50th Anniversary Tin I got... and tried to take it from me! Molly just gruffed and walked away. Your opinion is noted Molly.

Nice meer and those dogs must be a lot of fun. Your desk looks like mine! 🤣

Great critters all the way on this thread. Fred and Lefty, the cats, really are good smoking companions. They take an interest in the packing and lighting up, and seem to enjoy the scent, uh room note, and sometimes watch if they see a smoke ring, and will often doze on my desk when I smoke.

I really enjoy seeing all these fine dogs, cats, and the horse. Great faces and body language. Good friends. They remind us how to enjoy life when we feel stressed or distracted.

These two are my smoking buddies. (Both Wirehaired Dachshunds)

They have Pavlov'd themselves because all I have to do is grab a pipe and walk into the living room and they immediately run to the door and wait

Of course, my wife enjoys sitting out there with me and is a great friend to have while unwinding or just listening to the windchimes as the breeze blows:

My four legged friend is many things, but not a smoking buddy. Walter is a little shih tzu, and we have indeed tried to hang out on the porch before. I get 3 puffs then someone walks by and I have to spend the next 5 minutes quietening him down again.

Instead, Walter became the very best kind of smoking buddy. He distracts the kids while I sneak out onto the porch for quality briar (or meerschaum or cob) time.

Here he is balancing out the porch swing, guarding me from suburban Karens telling me not to smoke.

And here he is playing with the kids while I sneak away.

My pup tolerates my cigars and cigarettes. Apparently he is not a fan of the room note of any of my preferred blends. He heads for the bedroom when I light a pipe. In the bush he tolerates it only because he's leashed to me. I do not want him bringing a bear to meet me so, always leashed.

Earlier lab was tolerant of the pipe smoking. So, no current smoking pal.
