Who is Kaj Nielsen?

I do see that and recall the KAJ pipes did not have a stem logo or marker, while every KAI did have a stem logo / marker. The more I ponder this I am leaning towards two different people.

@briarblues The top 3 pics I posted are all stamped KAJ...even the ones with the silver nail. I should have labeled each of them to be clear. Sorry.

That is a beautiful pipe! Looking online the auction site "Worthpoint" has a pipe and refers to the artisan as "Kai (Kaj) Nielsen.

Yes it’s mentioned here and there but no definitive source. I think its the same person. As many as Ive seen by Kaj in a day of digging there would be at least something about the Kaj if it were someone different. I think Ive found reference to at least a dozen pipes, all estates. It would be cool if Kai answered but Im sure he has better things to do.

Thats what I found quoted elsewhere. Its good enough for me! Currently I have my eye on a couple of kai pipes but I might eventually pick up a kaj I was looking at. Time will tell.

OK OFFICIAL WORD: KAJ Nilsen pipes are Kai Nielsen. He wrote me back in an email. In 1993 the stamp was spelled incorrectly and being the only one he had for a while it was used.

Since Google searches this forum constantly I will make a thread. It may help others here and elsewhere since there is no other official word on the matter. At least a lot of searching could not locate any.
