I do love what I do while I am there. The people and politics not so much, although there are some I really like and make my day go quicker
Hmmm, I’d expect to see you smoking better pipes and tobacco given the perks of your former line of work.My favorite job was working for the Treasury Department as a "banknote spendability authentication agent, grade 2".
The work? They'd send me a million dollars a week in assorted denominations to spend in any way I liked, and at the end of the year I had to fill out a Currency Evaluation Form that wanted to know if the money spent OK or not. It was literally just two checkboxes... Spend OK? Yes or No?---and I'd mail it back.
Not especially challenging, but otherwise a pretty good gig.
Pathologist?I love my job. Everyday I go to work I see death and destruction BUT I get to solve another puzzle and give answers to disaster.
Like hearing everyone’s stories.Fire Investigator
Nothing complicated, risky, or otherwise creepy about climbing around in the aftermath of fires, I always say!

It has its moments that’s for sure. Like the time I found a severed foot. Good times.
How often are you compelled to do Aftermath Courtroom Stuff?
Or the flipside of that coin, called upon (voluntarily) to be an expert witness?
Ohh god, safety comety. Preventing us from doing our jobLike hearing everyone’s stories.
I guess I’ve turned into a safety guy over the years. Protecting people and stuff is now my job.
Everything I do I’m an expert witness
I had two depositions in the last two weeks.
I have four trials scheduled for January. Two criminal defense. One for the prosecution and one Civil.
I’ve worked 213 fires so far this year. I work in NV, UT, AZ and some in Cali.
Dayum. That's 1980's TV show hero stuff, like Magnum PI or Remington Steele.
Does anyone ever comment on the irony of a mega-fire investigator who uses leetle personal-sized fires for enjoyment?

Thank you for keeping people like me gainfully employed.Ohh god, safety comety. Preventing us from doing our job
Life is hard: “What do workers gain from their toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. ~Ecclesiastes 3: 9-11After reading a lot of the comments, it reminds me of Thoreau's quote from Walden, "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation...." Happy Thanksgiving!
