Who else does this type of Rustication/blast? This seems like an unusual rustication on a Pete as well. I recall seeing a Joe Case egg shape pipe with similar Rustication/blast and I should have bought it when I had the chance. I have looked since and not seen any others by him with similar texture. It is like a fine textured but necessarily shallow blast that sort of reminds me of coal. Is this a technique or a result of blasting over birdseye? Just wondering if there is someone known for this style of fine textured blast.

Looks like a rustication. Called different things by different makers but pebblegrain, bark, etc. checkout the options on SP The Pipe Locator - https://www.smokingpipes.com/search/the-pipe-locator.cfm?finish=3&sortOpt=default&displayNum=24

Strangely there are no markings I can see on the stummel. The now closed eBay auction had great pictures and other than the P on the stem there are no markings. I was just watching it because I liked the rustication.

Brobs is spot-on re: rusticated African meerschaum. I have a Petersons systems meer (silver hallmarked date stamp) which I bought new in the mid-70's with an identical rusticated finish.

Beautiful! That's not a maker I am familiar with, which is exactly what I am looking for. Thank you.
Marco Biagini of Moretti Pipes. He sells on Ebay, as well as directly. He is most accommodating and bends over backwards to be helpful. He will make you a pipe to your specifications out of briar, morta or olive wood at very reasonable prices. I have several of his pipes, and they are all good smokers.

I certainly see one in my future. Glad to hear they smoke as good as they look.
