Not much of a reader but I did enjoy reading LOTR for the most part. I didn't care to much for the hobbit until I was about half way through it.

The Hobbit is a much more child oriented book than LotR, ive known quiet a few adults who struggled to get into it because of that

They left Tom Bombadil out of the movie. That was pretty sad to me.

yea...they used the excuse he was too minor of a character with too big a time slot...i disagree though, he was a huge player in the first book

I enjoyed the books when I read them in the 60s. The films were too disorganized and frenetic and didn't come close to doing justice to the books. And yes, I missed old Tom Bombadildo too. (There--I had to say that!)

I own both a Luna and a Macqueen. Hands down Luna is the better pipe. My own humble opinion is that Macqueen makes sort of a toy pipe, or a pipe mainly for sitting on the shelf of a fantasy fan. The Macqueen had a very high-drilled draft hole which I've heard complained of numerous times on the web. The Luna is a well-crafted pipe built to be smoked. I have seen numerous reports of bowl-cracking with the Macqueens. Cherry wood, and other non-briar, are well known to crack and split. That's why they aren't used very often for smoking pipes. Btw, huge LOTR fan here. Books, movies. I love all of it.

There are people on here with decades old corn cob pipes. Unless your are talking pine or balsa I don't think many wood pipes are going to be much less durable if you don't abuse them.
