I really like the Sav. I have one like it and it smokes great.

The blast. I like smoothe pipes well enough, but the Vikings I have seen are varnished. The blasts are much more tactile and interesting to me.

Take them both! But if you are only going to choose one then I recommend taking the Viking.

Ditto me on the smooth finishes, but I've never smoked that one, and the two Savs I have smoke seem to be fine smokes that will improve with seasoning.

I like the Sav. You could find some nice estate pipes, restore a couple and offer them to your friends as a thank you. I like the good will aspect from your friend.

I would choose the Savinelli.

The ones I have are all good smoking pipes and Canadians are one of my favorite shapes.

I've never met a Savinelli that I didn't like-- but in this case, I'd probably choose the Bjarne, since I've never owned one before.

Sav for sure. The blast is beautiful and I think it's a more unique pipe both in look and feel.

I vote Savinelli. The Bjarne is a looker but the one's I've seen have very restricted stem airways.
