Which Tin Would You Open Next?

Trying to decide which to open next. I’ve never tried any of these blends before. For reference, lately I’ve been favoring Capstan Blue and WCC Rouxgaroux.

Embarcadero dated 08/19
Fillmore dated 02/19
Hal of the Wynd bought 4/20
Marlin Flake bought 12/19
(not sure how to date Rattrays tins)

To answer the question in the thread title … I am not planning to open any tin soon, but when I will, chances are I will open a limited edition Virginia family from C&D Either 2020 Carolina Red Flake with Perique or Smoking Pipes 20th Anniversary XX Flake ?

As for what you should open - It’s you tobacco man! Open any or open all - Its your choice !

To date K&K tobaccos (i.e., your Rattrays), look for the date code, which will look like A/E/A/R. The 2nd letter is the day, the 3rd is the month, and the last is the year, with A=1, B=2, etc.

So, e.g., A/E/A/R is 5 Jan, 18.

I'd open the oldest tin first.

Let the Marlin Flake age a few years more. You'll be glad that you did. Want to take a bit of a departure from what you've been smoking? Try the Fillmore.

HOW, if it were me…but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. I agree with Sablebrush on the Marlin Flake (especially if you’ve been enjoying Capstan Blue).

I had neither, but on basis of the tobacco contents I would pick Embarcadero. I love oriental forward blends.

Haha. Good to see you again! Thanks for the bonus Rouxgaroux the other day. I picked up just 4oz this time and was regretting my decision to go so light. When April rolls around I'll go for the full pound. I can't get enough of that stuff!

Same. Between that and Capstan Blue it’s hard to smoke anything else rn!

put the name of each tin on a slip of paper. Mix them up grab one at random. That's the one you smoke and if you decide not to smoke that one. Take it out of the mix and repeat until you're smoking something .

If you don’t know what they taste like fresh, I’m not sure how impressed you’ll be to try them aged.
Buy 3 of each of your budget hampered. One to try fresh, one for the 5 year mark, and one at 10 years.
