Put all the tins in a big bag. Close your eyes, reach in and pull one out.
While I like the idea, the MacBaren tins are slightly larger than the others, and the lids are furrowed. I suppose I could put some heavy gloves on and do this, but if anyone sees me, inside, wearing heavy gloves, reaching into a bag of tobacco tins knocking loudly against one another, I'll have some 'splainin' to do. My honest assessment of myself is that I'm far too neurotic and emotionally fragile for such an undertaking. Hence the creation of this poll.

Did the OGS as promised. Wow! What a smooth, enjoyable smoke. Tough to keep lit at first (I went somewhere between a fold and a light crumble for packing, which worked for every other flake I've tried), but went smoother about halfway down. Might benefit from a wee bit of drying time on the next go; even 10 minutes might do the trick. My favorite part was how beautifully cooperative it was in the last third of the bowl. 9 out of 10. Majority vote comes through! Very happy with this one.

On a side note, I now have a new nickname for our mustang: Golden Slice!

Next time, I'll be coordinated enough to smoke the pipe simultaneously... ?

I got this tin on my last trip into LA. Saw it on the shelf, $10. Looked like it had been there since the Nixon administration. Maybe I'll try it next...
oh try it now. That stuff is eye opening to what an aromatic can be. It really just amps up what the tobacco is naturally doing. Kind of like adding honey and lemon to tea. It still tastes like tea but a little more. It's certainly an under rated blend.

Intriguing. I dig the tea analogy, for sure. TR.com classifies it as a straight VA though; any chance of ghosting with this blend? If so, I'll sample it in my aro pipe, just to be safe.

I don't really care about ghosting but I don't see much danger with this one. Maybe it makes the next blend a little more acidic a.k.a. sharper tasting. TR has a different idea of classifications then your average bear or pipe smoker in my opinion. It's basically a VA but with a little added flavor kick. It's kind of right in the middle the aroma is obvious and so is the tobacco. It really hits that sweet spot a lot of my favorites do.

I don't care all that much either (much less than most), but I had a bad experience with an aro very early on, so I'm minimally wary. Been moving away from Burleys lately...maybe it's the changing seasons. VAs are right in my wheelhouse at the moment, and according to the polls, it's tied for 3rd place with ED. Since the GR tin looks like it has about five billion years of age on it, I think I'll give it a try. Thanks for the recommendation!
