Just for some background, I got into pipe tobacco a bit over 12 years ago, but went into hiatus for the last 10… I was going through my cabinet where my tobacco is and realize I have a great collection so thought to refresh interest here.

Most of these are over 12 years old (the ones highlighted in mason jars, the others in tins or the the one in sealed foil). Hopefully not too old? I was going to smoke the jarred ones first but curious what you would do?

Plenty to choose from, but do any of these risk getting too old, e.g., smoke those first. I guess I was thinking a bit like wine.

Ha! Had some ODF the day before yesterday. FVF yesterday.

P.S. What happened to all the tobacco brands in the last 10 years? its like I woke up from a deep slumber and the world has changed…

McClelland closed its doors in 2018 and MacBaren/Sutliff was bought by STG last year with much of their portfolio being discontinued.

If I were giving advice, I’d say to double your money and sell me the Stonehaven😆

Honestly, the tobacco will be ok or not. Smoke what your in the mood for.

The FVF is open/jarred.. I was thinking of Nightcap so thanks for the confirmation. Will tap that tonight and continue working the jarred. I also have about 7.5 oz. of PS Luxury Bullseye which seemed to have been deleted from inventory tracker.

Now I just need to figure out how to keep these lit (just remembered why I lost interest)!

FWIW the Stonehaven is gonna be hard for me to open given what that seems to auction for...but I remember really liking the tin I had.

The only things I'd smoke on that list are the Christmas Cheer, the Drama Reserve, and the Old Dark Fired. I'd start with the Drama Reserve.

It probably doesn't matter much.
Some improve with age, some dont.
And what I believe is an improvement, you may not.
I recently popped a 17 year old tin of FVF......its good. I've got a couple other Virginia flakes from 2024, 2025 that I prefer. I think 17 years was too long for that blend...for me.

Latakia loses intensity with age.
If you don't like Latakia then that's a good thing, if you do like it then smoke all your English blends ASAP.

Start with the Frog Morton, it will never be better than it is now.
