My first GLP blend was Lagonda... mainly as a result of this review: http://pipesmagazine.com/blog/pipe-tobacco-reviews/g-l-pease-lagonda-tobacco-review/ . It was the first "serious" bakkie I tried after fiddling around for several decades with various OTCs etc.(I wasn't too bright) From the first bowl til now, I am enraptured, mesmerized, thrilled, and delighted by this blend. My tastes have whirled and ran all around O'Houlihan's barn as it were... and yet I can always come back to this one and be totally satisfied... no, amazed, enlightened, and broadened by this blend. I have also loved GLPs Haddo's, Cairo, Sixpence, and most recently Quiet Nights. Gaslight just can't be beat!! I recently trimmed my cellar to only my most absolutely favorite blends... GLP blends accounted for the largest single subset, followed only by my quirky delight in a number of Dunhill bakkies. As far as I'm concerned, GLP himself is a Gift of God to the pipe universe! Like a Michaelangelo or Mozart or or or... something. I would imagine, not having as yet been able to try ALL of GLPs blends, that almost any one of them would be great! Note: I also experience GLP blends in general to be harder hitters in the nicotine department... but if I plan and proceed carefully with this in mind, all is safe and well. (I recently got into Barbary Coast... it was fantastic as well.) Sigh... so many masterpieces, so little time. (And the prices just edged up as well. pbbbt.) (Didn't stop me from ordering more tho... although I expect Her Majesty might be displeased when she discovers the charges. heh heh) Happy TG and Merry Xmas! j
