Just realized I have gone through my entire stash of Codger blends.

Looking to restock again, but reading now that there have been lots of changes since last time I restocked:

- Prince Albert and CH moved their production to Dominican Republic, flavor profile changed?

So which codger blend would you still recommend buying in April 2025? Looking for something that can be bought in larger sealed tubs, not loose bulk or pouches.

Thanks in advance for any insights.
I get worried about PA going away since they stopped selling tins and packets of it and just make jars now.
So I would answer with PA.

I too enjoy all the codger blends listed here. puffy As was mentioned earlier there are (MATCH) blends. I know JimInks has said most or the match blends are in many case preferable to the earlier versions- (lack chemical taste).

AT the West Virginia Smoke Shop, Jock has a bunch of them- mostly from Sutliff so these will be gone forever soon. I read on this forum & others that the MacBaren Original Flake is very much like St. Bruno- so I stocked up on that as it was cheaper to do so.

The Carter Hall & Prince Albert MATCHES are there as well- check 'em out. Good luck

Your note about MacB Original Flake had me down a rabbit hole, but I can’t seem to find a vendor with any in stock, not even WVSS (unless I’m just missing it?). Might you point me to a source to acquire a few pouches?

Apologies, you are correct. I goofed.
I saw Original Choice by Mac Baren's AND it is NOT the same as Original Flake. puffy THAT one was actually the legendary Walnut. It was renamed Original Flake because it it was thought "Walnut" was too "enticing" to young smokers... whatever. THAT is the one which draws comparisons to St. Bruno.
Again, I apologize to one & all for the inaccurate reading of name & subsequent "misinformation". sigh....

Notes: Formerly known as Odgen's Walnut, currently made by MacBaren. The name changed in October, 2016 to comply with EU laws.

Looking to restock again, but reading now that there have been lots of changes since last time I restocked:

- Prince Albert and CH moved their production to Dominican Republic, flavor profile changed?

-SWR has been ruined by a new vinegar topping, possible other STG-owned offerings affected as well?

-The Hearth & Home Chatham Manor and Prince Andrew blends have changed or will be discontinued shortly?

Not sure if all this is true or not, just read it in various posts here on the forums.

So which codger blend would you still recommend buying in April 2025? Looking for something that can be bought in larger sealed tubs, not loose bulk or pouches.

The last pouch of SWR I bought stinks of vinegar, intolerable!

Was that just your tin note and a couple puffs or was it most puffs from the pouch? A friend gave me a splendid from a 2021 batch whose first couple puffs had a vinegar note. But after that, the later puffs didn't have that smell, so overall my sample was good, minus the vinegar note.

I know that since they closed their GA factory, some reviewers complain about a vinegar smell from SWR.
