This is not a singularly unique phenomenon. I once knew a chap who raced and restored classic motorcycles from the early 1920s. Names like Levis, New Imperial to name a few. In each case you could not buy spare parts for the bikes and everything had to made or turned by hand on a lathe so a finished functioning machine was quite a sight to behold. I ran into him the other year at my local pub and I asked him how he was getting along with his vintage racing bikes etc. He happily informed me that he had 'moved on' and now collected and restored 1970s televisions and cassette players! Thus the idea that people come and go in life is not such a far fetched thing. The most dedicated and dyed in the wool hobbiests can loose interest in the blink of an eye lid!

If that is the case with Peck, then I claim dibs on his pipes and the contents of his tobacco cellar!

Wow, Condor, that would so describe me! My personal challenge is that I can't explain it to myself. I will be sooo engrossed, really obsessed with learning, studying and being completely single minded with the current passion, and then, for some unfathamonable reason, drop it like a hot potato, leaving all the used parts in the wake
On the issue of Peck, I'm sure he is fine and most likely overseas settling the worlds financial issues, to his firm's favor, of course!
