from the article
"Tobacco smoke is an established cause of lung cancer, heart disease and other maladies, and smoking has been called one of the nation's leading causes of death."
There you go, and that right there is why big brother government will get it's way whether or not we like it.

If you repeat the lies and misinformation often enough the people will come to believe it....

The day is coming when the leading cause of death in the USA is people revolting against those trying to ban everything. These "do-gooders" are the most miserable people on earth.

The one thing i cant understand is why smoking is targeted like it is. I dont know of to many people who went home smoked a carton of cigs then killed anyone. , BUT I do know off hand several people who went home drank a case of beer or liquor and killed their spouses. If anything you would think they would target alcohol. I guess I just dont understand, their are more crimes and and health problems with alcohol. I just dont get it!!!!

They did target alcohol once, and it failed miserably. The same thing will happen with tobacco over time. The basic fact is that people simply don't like being told what to do, and once the Nanny crap gets too heavy against too many people, people will lash back against it in any form.
Well, until it comes around again in a few years. It seems to be human nature that some people feel compelled to try and control the behavior of other people.

If you look closely, you'll find that much of the funding for these efforts comes from the pharaceutical companies who produce nicotene gum and the patch.

Yep, the bulk of the money comes from Johnson and Johnson. It is a covert marketing campaign for them.

We live in a time when the seething, insect-like spirit of power, control and manipulation has the collective hive-mind of society firmly in its grasp. Those of us who resist being assimilated and desire to be sovereign individuals will continue to face an uphill battle.

All I want to see is one establishment that doesn't allow non-smokers through it's doors...just one.

What bothers me most in all this is the assumption that "smoking" always equals "cigarette smoking" in peoples minds now. Any tobacco study, whether legitimate research or junk science, always seems to paint pipe smokers with the same brush as all othe tobacco users. Research that focusses on pipe specific smokers consistently come to very different conclusions but this is now totally outside the cultural consciousness.
