Typically I only smoke aromatic blends. In the last few months though I've had an inkling to try some more natural blends. I gave a tin GL Pease's Union Square a go and enjoyed it. Now I'm curious as to where I should go from there in the world of Pease blends. I was thinking maybe Navigator but any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Laurel Heights often gets overlooked but the citrus in the background adds to the blend . Out of the Fog City collection this is my favorite . Embarcadero is my least favorite of the blends in the collection and was gifted to me by a fellow member who did not much care for it either .

I really enjoyed my first tin of Navigator, so much so I purchased another 33. Will it get better with more age, most definitely, but I really enjoyed it fresh. I also was not a fan of Union Square, just kind of bland to me. But I have put it away and will re visit in a year. I do have hopes that it will get a lot better with age.
If you are looking for a Perique bomb, then I highly recommend Haddo's Delight. If I could smoke Red Virginia's, I would be smoking a ton of it.

Try Jack Knife. It offers a big, bold, rich tobacco flavor. It landed a lot of four-star reviews on another site.

Pease's range is large; without knowing what you particularly enjoyed about Union Square, I'm not sure I could do anything but list all of my favorites in his line (which are many, but primarily limited to his English/Balkan blends).
I will say that I have to agree with those who found Embarcadero "wanting." But that assessment is based on a brand-new tin back in 2007. It's possible that things have improved dramatically in the six years since then.

I just started in on a tin of GLP Fillmore and have been very impressed. It's VA's and Perique, and it is no slouch. I thought the tin not was odd, as in it had overtones of lawn debris (and believe it or not, I mean that in a positive way), but the smoke IMHO was pretty fabulous. Already have more on order to cellar, and it's shot to pretty close to the top of my Pease charts.

I like GLP blends, however, I to found Union Leader uninspiring for a Virginia blend. You may want to try Dunhill's Virginia Flake, Sam Gawith Full Virginia Flake (if you can find any) or a personal favorite McCranie's Red Flake since it's rather light and be smoked all day.

Since you are/were primarily an aromatic smoker, some of the heavier tobaccos might not be for you - Full Virginia Flake, Haddos, etc.

Jackknife plug is a little full, but very tasty.
Union Square (no condiment), Embarcadero (Orientals), and Stratford (perique) all share a similar mix of virginias, I think.

I liked Union Square but it did come across as a bit young - probably due to the lack of any topping. Pure VAs there, and high quality ones to boot. I am betting that it will age beautifully like a good bordeaux.
