I have a quite new Dunhill 1 flame DR Amberflame bulldog that has a straight shank and a mouthpiece with a quarter bend. The result is that it's going to burn the rear inside edge of the the bowl due to the fairly severe cant of the bowl while smoking. After only a handful of smokes, it has already slightly rounded the edge of the bowl. I'd like to convert it to a straight bulldog to prevent further damage, so I need a new stem/mouthpiece. I think I've read somewhere that the "official" replacements come from a fellow in Florida. Can anyone provide any more info?

The Florida reference is from pipedia,
"Schulte's Pipe Repair is the best around! They are the only authorized repair shop in the U.S. for Dunhill pipes. Contact Howard Schulte at (772) 564-0079. 678 Old Dixie Highway, Vero Beach, Florida 32962. All work is done by mail order, but call first. Your pipe will be like new!"
I had them do an "official" Dunhill stem for me some years back, $75 as I recall.

joeman, my reason is just that it's the original version from the factory. If I decide to eventually sell it, I want it as close to the original as possible.
Here are a few photos...

That stem looks like it has already been messed with. Besides awkward, the bend has kinks. Hard to believe that passed QA at Dunhill.
As for straightening it now and re-curving at some future date, that's by far the best solution. A replacement stem that is seamlessly interchangeable with an original---and both STAY that way---adds considerably to the difficulty of making it. Sometimes shockingly so.

I agree georged. I bought the pipe from Payless Cigars and Cigarettes online a few months ago. They were selling out of their Dunhill pipes at 60% off MSRP. The pictures were beyond horrible. There wasn't even a profile of this one. But, at that price, it was worth the gamble.
Wouldn't it be very difficult to hide any imperfection in the line if straightening were attempted, though?

I would take George's advice on this matter as he knows of what he speaks. Most people don't know that George is actually a famous guy in the pipe world. I know for a fact that people pay 50.00 bucks for an autograph at the pipe shows. He sets himself up in a suite and there is a line out the door for the first 2 days he is there.

I wonder whether that stem was not straight originally but just heated and bent? I think having a competent person unbend it would solve the issue...
