I have a few older pipes that have cracked running down the rim to 1/2 way down the bowl. I’d love to “band” it with silver and small nails. Similar to ones from the 20s that you may see from time to time. Anyone know where that is sold?

No such thing that I know of (meaning intended for that application).

The sterling tubing that jewelry supply places stock doesn't get anywhere close to large enough.

Result? Either fabricate a band from strap, or find some thin-walled metal tubing that's the right diameter in some non-precious metal.

Here's a good place to start (choose desired specs in the left margin boxes);

Thank you! Should the nail holes be pre drilled before hammering or is 100 year old briar “soft” enough to tap a nail that probably 1/8” long.

Found Sterling strips on Amazon. About $20 for a foot of 3/16 wide and pretty thin. Will try to find some older pipes to see how they bound the rim and if there was any way to keep tension on it when securing.

Once upon a time you could buy premade rim caps, they were available to pipe repairman and wholesalers. Nowadays you either have to solder and spin em yourself out of plate or find someone who can.
If you do attempt it yourself you will want to pre-drill the holes in the cap and the briar. You’ll want to press those pins in rather than hammer. A drill press with a caul is good for doing it. The best way to get tension on it is make your cap the size desired with the crack closed and then warm it before installing it. When it cools it will shrink and close up the crack. You can also use a twine and bar clamp to pull the crack closed.
