I’ve been wondering what has become of

I’ve been wonder what has become of these folks and @Simmerdown☕️ too

One does wonder at times what might of happened to all sorts of people who cross our paths in life when we suddenly realize we haven't seen whoever in the last six months and hope for the best (like the won the lottery and moved to Dubai or they realized we are actually annoying and do everything in their ability to avoid us), especially in the last few years.

remember death happens to everyone and it's not so bad, you don't have to get a job or eat or anything. You know could be worse.

Yea well after 8 months or so of having a girlfriend I guarantee you most dudes would spend more hours here seeking refuge and btw I like to eat!
Nah that is still the point where you can eat three days worth of calories in one meal and still loss so much weight people think you have a serious herion addiction. Or at least that's what happens at that point. That's about the point where you can start finishing a movie in one sitting.

People pop up and disappear all the time. The constant 'churn' of topics on here such as 'Dunhill' pipes or pipe cleaners can probably get to people unless you look beyond these things. I spend a lot of time on here as it breaks my day up. The only exception is if I am traveling or unwell. If I stop posting it is either the Mods have finally caught up with me and given me a 'Super Ban' or I have checked off planet earth. Strangely you don't see any really problematic threads on here, whether that is down to the Mods or the idiots have been booted out before they cause issues I don't know. I hope Ettrick is OK and I hadn't noticed that @virkia has been quiet recently. I exchanged several PM's with him and found him to be an absolute gent.

Also, sometimes we just want the socialization that a forum brings, get burnt out by it, then return in a few months refreshed and ready to make some inane threads. At least that's how it works for me. I use to crave to be accepted as a regular at a bar then once I became one I hated that everyone there seemed to "know" me so I would disappear, become less familiar and maybe a tad more interesting when I showed up again with my tales of being in a Turkish prison for the last 6 months or busy inventing transparent metal for NASA.
It only feels like 6 months...

Every forum I've been an active poster on, for whatever hobby or activity, generally after a few months or maybe a year depending on the subject, I find myself mainly posting in the general or off-topic chat. Sure, I'm still interested in pipes and pipe tobacco but I find it more interesting to talk about other things with a bunch of freaks who just happen to be connected through some esoteric pursuit.

I kind of noticed and somewhat agree. I enjoy learning about people, history, fun facts, and the miscellaneous things in the forum.

And as a large American, I love the food threads. With tobacco and pipe smoking being the base or glue that brings us together, I really enjoy this site.

Yea, it's interesting as pipe smoking apparently draws in all sorts of people. I am often pleasantly surprised by what music forum members are into her, for example. I might of wrongly assumed that the vast majority of people on a pipe forum would just be into soundcloud rap and banjo pickin' tunes but that is far from the case from my experience here.

I use the search function frequently to look up topics and tobacco brands/blends. In doing so, I often stumble upon interesting threads and comments. Some members that are no longer active had some great posts and comments, which is why I was happy when @Richmond B. Funkenhouser reappeared or when @peckinpahhombre stops in for a cup of coffee.

An interesting "like" about the forum is how members usually care for one another even if they disagree on a point (or everything for that matter).

I think it is great members check on others or post about their day (like in the WAYS threads, which I've come to like after initially passing over them). Keep it up gentlemen and ladies.
Yeah now that you mention it, I remember wondering what happened to @Richmond B. Funkenhouser , and then he re appeared and I was thinking "oh, okay -- he's alright". But yeah, I think people just drift away from most any forum, for various reasons.

Navel gazing is very informative. Have you ever considered that the path to inner enlightenment might just be blocked with vast wads of navel fluff? If we all wore glass navel plugs this would prevent build up and like buddha we would all become enlighten and smoke nothing but rose geranium flavored pipe blends? Discuss.

That's entirely possible. I find myself posting more elsewhere.
Whore!!!

haha I’ve seen guys disappear on cigar boards and literally (this just happened) pop up after 8 years and post how they went back to college, graduated, got married, have two kids now, got a second degree and a new job and life finally slowed down enough to have a cigar. That one was extreme but he was certainly busy lol
