Where do you stick your ash

This is pretty much my approach. If there's one thing I have in excess, it's empty tins of escudo. So I dedicate them as ash trays. I don't throw it away when full though. I just dump on the fire pit when full and use it until the label wears off. Then I grab a new one (new, empty tin).

For me, since i smoke my pipes in my den so much, I don't like to have the ash and dottle sitting in an ashtray -- not a great smell. (As it is, everyone who walks into the room loves the smell -- tobacco and leather. Can't go wrong.

Old stupid joke. How do you catch a bear? You dig a big hole, fill it with ashes. Line the rim with peas, when the bear bends down to get one of the peas, you kick him in the ash hole...BBBRRRrrBOOOMMM :crazy:

I'm with pruss - I think the alkalinity and carbon in pipe ash is grand for compost.

Pipe cleaners in Xikar cigar ash can. Ash in toilet. Never really given it much thought.

I only smoke outside. I smoke the entire pipe until it's only dust left, or perhaps a little dottle - depending on the blend. When I'm done, I use the poker part of a pipe tool to make sure anything left is loose. Then the contents are flung into whatever plants/grasses/etc are nearby. One final exhale through the pipe and whatever was left in the pipe is just dust in the wind.
