Man I'm going to have to post some of my pheasant in about an month. Love the photos guys.

Please do! Where do you hunt pheasants? When I was a kid we used to make a yearly trip to Platte, SD to knock down a bunch of pheasant and ducks. Some great adolescent/early adult memories there. ROOSTER!!!!! Hahaha. Although my dad did pull a Dick Cheney and shoot me..........twice......

Not this one, he had nuts that almost dangled to the ground, meat when cooked would smell like urine.

That does not sounds appetizing. Didn't realize big nuts were indicative of poor meat quality. I guess I won't have to worry about cannibals coming after me

Bull Caribou up here can get that way when they get deep into the rut. We have shot a couple huge ones over the years with big bulged out necks that we ended up donating to the zoo and/or wildlife center because they were so unbearably gamey. Thankfully Moose are not the same way, rut or otherwise they are always delicious.

Alaskan, how many are you feeding? That's enough to last the two of us for 3 or 4 years!
It depends. First off, all that meat gets split up evenly amongst everyone in the party, so for example there were 4 of us on that deer hunt, 3 on the moose hunt, etc. Secondly, as far as how many we feed, it also depends. If friends and family strike out we will often give them a good portion of meat/fish. My mother is too old to hunt now so she gets a lot of it, etc. etc.

It all depends. Some years we end up with an excess before the next season begins in which case all the fish will get smoked and given away at the office, and any excess game meat will be distributed among friends/family/coworkers etc. We always have more than enough for just my wife and I (and now daughter) but it all ends up getting eaten by Alaskans regardless.

It's pretty much all we eat, meat wise though. The only meat we ever buy is chicken, and we never buy fish, except the occasional sashimi grade tuna. I have never purchased ground beef in my life. Well, unless you count drunken taco bell runs.

Nothing on the level of what some of you guys here are doing, but I fish and hunt a little. Here's a smallmouth I caught in a creek that runs through my friend's grandpa's farm. This is probably my favorite place to fish because it's private, clean, and very peaceful, even if the fish aren't so big.

Bad pic into the sun, but here are a bunch of doves I shot two days after I moved back to Indiana from Chicago. Welcome home! Dove breasts make an excellent stew with root vegetables and the like.
