It's the Greek for "presbyters", with the church on the tin of Presbyterian replaced with the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. Not sure what I'm looking at.
It's complicated. This is a joke about the Eastern Orthodox Church (which is different from Presbyterians, who follow a reformed theology), but whoever made this image used a poor choice of church. The Hagia Sophia was the seat of the Patriarch of Constantinople until the conquering of the city by Ottomans in 1453. The Ottomans renamed the city to Istanbul and turned the cathedral into a Mosque.I don't recognize the mosque though.
Indeed. I've very fond of this song (do you see the pipe? ?):The Ottomans renamed the city to Istanbul . . .
IN this particular case, it would be "taking back" a holy building.localization can be kind of awesome and sometimes imply something worse then was being avoided. Like now this tin looks like it came from some alternative dimension where the Presbyterians have taken over and are stealing other peoples holy buildings.
I was having trouble not sharing this song.Indeed. I've very fond of this song (do you see the pipe? ?):
Haha! Glad I solved your problem!I was having trouble not sharing this song.
that timeline makes no sense.IN this particular case, it would be "taking back" a holy building.
The three main branches of Christianity are Reformed (after the Reformation), Catholic, and Orthodox. Presbyterians are a type of Reformed, this is Presbyterian for Orthodox as it is in Greek and has an Orthodox cathedral on it instead of the Reformed church on the original.Reformed?
But for the reformation, formal wear for guys would be colorful dresses. That's my theory. The three main branches of Christianity are Reformed (after the Reformation), Catholic, and Orthodox. It started out as a Christian Church.that timeline makes no sense.
