Because my fussiness and perfectionism wouldn't seem a match with Peterson's reputation for meh quality control in recent years, some people are surprised when I say that my favorite rack of pipes are Petes.

Because the company deserves every smoker's support. They are an authentic slice of the 19th century still swinging in the 21st, which is as long-odds impossible as a steam engine or buggy whip manufacturer still being in business. Further, as much as possible, they try to do things as they always have. Many of Petes' employees have been there for decades. Some over 40 years.
That deserves respect even if you don't smoke a pipe... and if you DO, it should be close to your heart, indeed.
