I will never quit buying new pipes as long as I smoke the pipe. I will try to moderate the net number of pipes in my possession.

. Thanks for catching my original typo. If I'd eaten 45 pies, I'd be pretty pied out. :laughat:

You’re very welcome. I kinda wish you’d have left it, as it makes my joke work better as originally written. But live and let live, I guess. I have about 25 pipes, and while I believe that I have enough, I still find a good rationale for the one I really “need” when I see it. Like the Savinelli 2015 St. Nicholas 106 I just bought because it was the last one to be found, and I really like the 2015s and I didn’t have one and if I didn’t buy it I’d probably never have a chance...at least I gave it to my wife to give to me closer to Christmas as a surprise. :D

At one time, I had 53 pipes and most of those are estates. My head tells me I have more than I need so I haven't bought a new unsmoked pipe for myself in about 2 years.
That being said, I have started letting go of some of the seldom smoked pipes so I got down to 47 pipes. In the past three months I have won a pipe in a long smoke competition and spent under a $100 on four estate pipes I found in junktique shops.
I don't have PAD. The pipes just find me.

wyfbane, cobs definitely count. I ain't letting myself off the hook. Besides most of mine have Forever stems or were bought with Vulcanite or acrylic stems, they smoke so well.

I am never buying another pipe as long as I live. Anyone want to take the over or under on that bull? I say it and actually mean it but PAD is a merciless bitch who will always win in the end.

I don't know how many pipes I have - More than 50 and less than 100. Yeah, there are many a pipe I could buy if I had the wherewithal. Being poor sucks.

I enjoyed this thread. Reason: I'm so new, and I still think in shapes. Where you guys write: "320" I think "Diplomat".

To the point: I just doubled my collection a couple of weeks ago. Now I can't spend enough time with them. And I've stopped looking for pipes. I guess it is enough when you have twice as many pipes?

But I need a Groud Calabash. So just one more....

I reached 44 pipes at my peak. I sold some and now my ambition is to keep 15 of the best smokers and lookers, divide them according to the tobacco flavor profile. I've got reverse PAD, it's cheaper and mentally healthier :D

My peak was about 150 pipes but now I am in the mid 50's (not counting my Falcons -8 stems and 30 bowls). PAD still is a Major B at times but I've got a good rotation going so that helps stems the tide.

To quote Mark Twain, “quitting (smoking) is easy. I have quite a thousand times.”

Me, too.

I have said to myself over and over, “you are retired. You cannot afford another pipe.”

And then I see a new one. I swear I hear the siren song. And walla, I pull the trigger.

Brad said he has 400 pipes. I am over 200 and counting.

I need help! My fear now is that I can’t quit.

Is there a rehab center for PAD- afflicted pipe smokers?
