I tried a pipe for awhile in 1976 but now looking back it was the OTC blends that scuttled it that time. I kept the nice little

Meerschaum pipe for many years after that and finally got rid of it somewhere along the way. i cant remember what happened to it.

I smoked cigs a few years in the early 80's and quit them. Started with occasional cigars in 2009 and when they started impacting my budget more and more I decided to go back to a pipe and got it right this time.......been on the pipe a year now.

Five minutes ago for this bowl. I'll have another after breakfast....ha ha
About 40 years ago for the first time. Started again about 6 years ago. I'm a five bowl a day man now. I must add that the pipe and a drink are great, however, the pipe and the computer for blend research, buddies and conversation is the best.

Was about 16 w/cigs, didn't take to them, switch to wonderful cigars about 18 years old been smoking them for some time, then tried pipe smoking and dropped it fast due to being impatient and smoking with bad bacci/pipe...just this past Jan I put efforts in on good pipe/bacci and I'm hooked now until the end of my days...may they be long and full of wonderful pipes and blends....another cool topic "how many blends have u smoked since you started pipe smoking "rough estimates"

Experimented around 12, started fully at 17. Started with a pipe about 10-11 years ago, switched fully to pipes about 4 years ago.

Had my first pipe somewhere around 18-20. It was right after the second or third Lord of the Rings movie came out. Was on and off for a few years and just within the last year I've been smoking my pipes daily and getting huge into Peterson pipes and tobaccos.

My father smoked pipes, so I started when I was about 16. Infrequently. When I was in 11th grade, one of my friend's grandfather had a LOA 17 sailboat in Marina del Rey. My friend and I would ride out there, after school on Wednesday and sail thru the night, smoking pipes. At about 5 in the afternoon, there is a very large sailing thing that happens, lots of boats, some racing, We continued all night, very slowly as the wind petered out after dark. We would get back, just in time for marching band practice on Thursday morning. I still have the pipe, back then Troost Tins were available, about $4 for a 100 gr tin. I still have one of the tins. Good times......

Started smoking a pipe 6 1/2 years ago. I'm now 49. Never smoked anything before that. I started out smoking a Cherry and a Vanilla tobacco that the wife bought me from Wal-Mart. I still have most of both left because I quickly moved on to other blends such as English, VA and Vapers.

I smoked my first cigs, Winstons at age 13. Later moved to Camels and the occasional Newport, springing for Shermans when I was feeling rich. I quit at 27, opting for a good cigar maybe twice a year. At 38, I decided to try a pipe because I'd always wanted a Meerschaum. No plans on changing. The pipe is where it's at.

As a pre-schooler, I loved the smell of cigars (my dad smoked only cigarettes at the time). I KNEW that one day I would smoke cigars. It finally happened when I "liberated" a couple of King Edward Invincibles from an elderly uncle's box. I was about 12 then, and yes, I did the dirty deed behind our barn.
It wasn't until college, and years of sneaking and buying cigars that I bought my first pipe, a M-M cob (that I still have). I stoked it with Paladin Black Cherry (a tobac favored by my HS coach). That was in 1975. :puffy:
