A first production "Kaywoodie" by KB&B

and a mint "Blue Line" KB&B with its original hard leather case.

I guess I could use a first production Matched Grain seven day set as well.

And that Google search you linked too -- wowzer! Gert Holbek's Polonius (or any Holbek pipe) is my white whale, but a Micke is close behind. Any idea what Florov charges for one of those?
I have no idea, and my pockets ain't deep enough I don't think, but it actually may be reasonable?
UPDATE

...just saw this from site-sponsor NeatPipes,

looks like $1,803.12 is the going rate, not too bad really.

http://www.neatpipes.com/Prodotto/alex-florov-smooth/&id=1353
Here's a neat little interview with Micke if interested:

http://bbs.pipevillage.org/archiver/tid-13064.html
I like bouncing around thru the Japanese stuff, jawdroppingly mindblowing images abound, my head gets dizzy, I feel disoriented, it's real fun!
Here's a guy talking about the Polonius, in English

http://moondial.blog2.fc2.com/blog-entry-72.html
This place had a few for sale, around 150,000 yen

The easiest way to goggle google look is using a general term:

喫煙用パイプ

..........then write a tag behind it like this: " 喫煙用パイプ denmark " or whatever name or Eng. word

...you'll end up eye-glazed, as well as fascinated by weird auctions like this:

Japan is hyperactive on the high-end side, and they pay top dollar, so alot, especially the seminal Danish stuff, is held in hands over there, it's neat to glimpse into that world which seems so far away, almost insular, but mighty fine 'n glorious!!! :puffpipe:

Thanks, misterlowercase, for all of those links. And for the link to the Florov pipe on Neatpipes. (And my children thank you for reducing their inheritance. )
1,400 Euro is pretty steep for me for my wife to know about, but maybe when Cyprus leaves the Euro and all hell breaks loose in the FX markets it will be easier to afford. :puffy:

Great ubber pipes all around. I'd go for that Dunhill bulldog. I feel sure I'll find it at

a flea market with an unknowing dealer for $15 any day now. My White Whale pipe

seems to be whichever I am angling toward buying. Don't spend much time on the

ones way out of reach. I guess I could buy a $3K pipe, but it wouldn't be worth

the bucks to me. The question is, which pipe on my rack is the White Whale today.

Now we need to do a thread on our White Whale smoking experience. Like, in the

UK Lake District beside a sheep pasture sitting on a bolder smoking an English

blend ... or Amsterdam, etc.

Update to my earlier post: found this McKie 'Corncob' Pipe. Probably will purchase it if it's still available this summer!

I know it is an o;d thread but I thought I would bump it. My White Whale is a Dunhill 5108 in smooth finish. I would like an Amber Root, Bruyere, and Chestnut. Might even like a Root.

Definitely one of Trevor Talberts Halloween pipes. Stunning striking, and miles away from my price range. :crying:

I've seen photos of that pipe before, but not the one with the woman holding it. Even if she were a 3-year old girl, it would still be an insanely large pipe. Wow.

My White Whale would have to be my birth year (1954) Dunhill. And as long as we're wishing.... make it a bulldog, any finish.
