I’d go with the pot shape.

Not quite as interesting looking but, for whatever reason, I’ve found pot shapes to be more likely to give a better quality smoke. It would have to boil down to the drilling. Perhaps it’s easier to get that ideal chamber and bore geometry with the pot shape.

My best smoking pipe hands down is a GBD pot shape. It reveals nuances in a blend startlingly well.

In the end you just have to go with the one that calls to you.

I like the pot (esp its brindle stem) but find it ordinary too. I like designs that are top heavy so I worry less about dropping them (same as with my women lol). Plus, the thicker wall at the top will make it easier to hold for me, as I tend to smoke hot. The Dublin also has more flair without slapping you in the face. I actually hesitated for a minute on the pic of the Dublin, but almost scrolled by the pot without noticing it. If you're going to buy Italian, give them their due and buy something with style and flair!

Both Dublin and Pot shapes are fantastic pipes.

But from the two examples you've linked, I prefer the Dublin. Shape just looks better to my eye.

I made a hard right turn. Both of these would just be another briar pipe in a different shape. I decided to get something that will more likely bring a different experience. I'm getting a basic block meerschaum instead.

Probably for the best. Every smoker needs a meer for tobacco that you don’t want to ghost your briar.
