Mine is "Supper at Emmaus," by Rembrandt

Wow - looked it up and the museum where it lives was one of the giant list of things we couldn't visit on our whirlwind two day train trip to Paris last spring. Wish we'd had time.

What got my attention is the Caravaggio interpretion is in London - saw it!

I have no favorite to offer - there is an incredible red squirrel painting we kept coming back to at the giant food/art/wares market in Belfast a few years ago that hangs in our dining area (I actually couldn't get it out of my head and called the guy a few days later when we were out of the area to ask about purchasing it and he ended up shipping it to us a couple of months later - he was obligated to have it on display somewhere for a time, and no it wasn't anything "great" or expensive) - we don't "collect" anything but have a few watercolors with particular "connections" and every few years we buy something that gets to us in some way - so right now, the squirrel is my favorite painting. My wife had a sketch done of our now passed and wonderful golden retriever - I'd put it up against anything else for quality and absolutely capturing his essence - a local teacher created it - it will forever be my favorite work of art and brings a tear to my eyes even thinking about it right now.

Otherwise, we've been lucky to see dozens of the so-called greatest paintings ever the last few years and some we've liked better from famous and not so famous artists in museums and elsewhere in various places we've visited - I enjoy them but don't have the time to even come close to understanding all there is to see when I read about some of them or listen to an expert talk about them. There is so much going on and so much context - fascinating world - I'll never have the time to know enough about it so I appreciate it for what it happens to say to me on I guess a superficial level when I'm standing there.

Looking forward to seeing what is speaking to other folks.
