My Comoy has the original stem and another stem made from lucite with the 3-piece inlay no less. You could do that for a Dunhill through Walker Briar Works and have exactly what you want plus the original stem so it won't lose value.
Your acrylic bit for the 499 has a 3 piece "C"? Wow, who did that work? I'd love to see a close-up shot of that. I had only heard of one person who did a modern 3 pc C logo, a artisan maker for Neill Archer Roan. That is very difficult to execute! My Comoy has the original stem and another stem made from lucite with the 3-piece inlay no less.
I am pretty much in the same boat. My thing seems to be inexpensive pipes that smoke well and my favorite pipe is a Tsuge Bulldog that I bought from smokingpipes.com for $50. However, I really like the looks of every Mark Tinsky I have seen, but I haven't read any reviews or held one.have very simple tastes in a pipe....I'm perfectly happy with a straight apple or billiard, or a 1/2 bent dublin or egg, finish is unimportant. My "dream pipe" is simply any pipe that smokes cool and dry, isn't too heavy to hold in my teeth, with a comfy bite that doesn't make me feel like I'm holding a broom handle between my teeth. As it happens, I have many pipes that fit this description, having kept my favorites over the years and sold or given the rest way. So I guess you could say I'm living the dream every time I light up.
