I have had a few of you guys send me a friends request. Thanks, but what is the "friends" things all about. I guess I'm not understanding. I know on facebook you are able to see information that others can't see if you are "friends". Just wondering.

jsharp, it's just a kindly welcome to the brotherhood! Our "information" is what we post in the forums and share with all.

That's correct cortez but your not supposed to mention that because it's hush hush. Now that the cat's out of the bag, we might as well explain. One of the bells and whistles is gaining access to the "back room" forum. If you get a friend request there, the whole secret pipe underground is open to you. Rare one-of-a-kind pipes for pennies, Dunhills at pipe cleaner prices and unlimited purchases to the hidden stash of Balkan Sobranie.
Geezz, thanks for ruining the holidays cortez! Now everybody knows.

There's a part of the site where it lists your friends and how recently they've been on the site. Handy for keeping in touch if you need to PM a friend, too, unless you're pstlpkr and have a nice short list of 1,000 or so friends... :D

I purposely didn't tried to make friends with everyone, because the fine print in the "back room" access agreement states that Kevin can come to your house and take your cellar stash. If you're bubba, that might be OK, but my cellared stash isn't so huge as to be able to recover from Kevin acquiring it...

*edit* damn spelling.

I've seen it as an opportunity to say hello

with someone that you might have something in

common with, or not.

I got a chunk of friend req when I first signed on,from people id never spoken with.....so I declined most, figured they were all sales men. They allreday had so many friends, it felt like they were just counting que .however, I did accept pstpkr's as he was frequently signed on, and its always good to have the hotline on speed dial.

For me; The "Friends" thing, is a way to get to know all the newest members.

1st; you have to open their profile, that lets you know where they are from, and what their name is. If they accept it then I re-read that information and they become familiar to me.

2nd; I use it as a reference when sending PM's. I prefer the use of names vs. screen names. It's just more personal, and after all they are Personal Messages.

3rd; I gain one on Kevin every now and then. I figure it will take me ohhh..... 10 or 15 years to over take his lead. :D
It's just a way to make new friends.

I'm glad this was posted. I didn't understand the friends thing either. I have been honorer by several members requests and have accepted them all. I've been wondering what happens next.?

It actually made me feel welcome to the club when I received the friends requests as if I now belong and it felt good, so Thank You again.
