I never realised the importance of a tamper to till I created my own, used to poke the tobacco Noe I use the tamper and get a better smoke.

I use Clevis Pin Bolts, I have one that is 3" and skinny and 4" that is 5/8 around. Very effective and inexpensive.

We saved the shells they used for the gun salute at my FIL's funeral; they work great and induce fond memories.

A small chess or other game piece might work, with the felt (if any) taken off the bottom and maybe a very small metal washer added. A piece of elongated sea glass (shards of glass worn smooth by the ocean and sand) might work, given the right shape, or similarly an elongated piece of seashell.

I use the severed phalanges of my enemies. Polish the ends a bit to avoid having bits of leaf stick to it. Helps to macerate and dehydrate the bone first.
