balkisobrains, Larry's Blend is so good. I only have a tiny sample now, but I can tell it's a keeper. As for the backordered stuff, I have never bought a blend when it's backordered. Honestly, I'm a bit afraid to pay for something that isn't "in stock," what with P&C having so many troubles recently. Have you had success with buying blends on backorder and receiving them? How long did you wait before you received the shipment you paid for?
I found the bulk Larry's Blend to be identical to the tinned, FYI.
Can't speak for recently, what with all of the technical issues that they have been having. I seriously question whether some of the McClelland Syrian blends on back-order will actually pan out for people, but they were listed like that before the technical issues and I presume that P&C might have some clue about what they will see in the near future, but I had no issues ordering that way over the summer. I added some back-ordered Legends to my order during a 20% off site-wide sale and got enough tobacco overall to also get free shipping.
Got what they had in-stock right away, Legends came in to them a couple months later, and a week or so after that I had it in hand. All shipped at no extra out-of-pocket cost to me. The invoice that came with the back-ordered stuff had the retail price in the total. This initially confused me since I had bought the stuff on sale and forgotten that they gave me the entire overall order discount, subtracted from the in-stock items that I had paid for initially. So if memory serves, you get charged retail for the back-ordered stuff separately when they send it out, but you have already gotten its' discount applied to the initial order. :puffy:

No happy talk from me, but I hope PC gets it back in the road. They have some great products, unmatchable prices on some lines of pipes, and a devoted crew including Russ O. with his amazing blending history. We can't afford to lose an ambitious and worthy online retailer to cranky programing innovations, or whatever it is. And yes, that shipping department needs some training. I needed a pipe-happiness fix, having missed the local pipe show and with my wife having ankle fractures ... so I went to smokingpipes.com for the ten percent off. Couldn't handle disappointment on this.

I've been WAY MORE PATIENT than I should have been. I'm done waiting. I just ordered a few items that P&C say are backordered, (ordered the weekend of IPSD) from Smoking Pipes. THE STUFF IS ALL IN STOCK AND WILL BE HERE WEDNESDAY! I SENT CI AN EMAIL TO THE ADDRESS THE TOP GUY GAVE ON YOUTUBE. I EXPECT AN ANSWER FROM THEM. I HOPE SOMEONE THERE SEES THIS.

If Microsoft consultants make a promise, say "Can I get that in writing?" and "So you will provide support to deliver this according to the letter of this contract?"
I am not anti-Microsoft, at all, but this is good practice with any corp (SAP, MSFT, Oracle, etc.) provider.

My order with SP, entered late last night, has been shipped today, Sunday (!) at 7 p.m. Not to rub salt in the wound with PC, but that in fact is the competition. I don't know other online pipe/tobacco retailers that are quite that quick, but PC needs to be dependable, and also to pack things right so they arrive in good shape.
