Be glad you got in before the end of the de minimis exemption. An XL02 is on the way! I like them based on what there is to see and of course the proof will be in the handling and visual once it gets here, but worth taking a chance on. The question is will it get here before one or both of my POTYs make it from Europe, lol. AN Post has been unusually slow with these pipes. So in the next few days I'll have a three-Pete, haha.
I like the new finish, at least on the pieces where the execution is good. The blast over rustication really can look like an early Dunhill Shell. Still, hitting us with the POTY, CP Rua Spigot, and a new finish in such a short span of time does feel like they are pushing FOMO to the point of diminishing returns.I think they’ve fallen into leveraging FOMO as much as they can.
Don’t forget Walt Cannoy’s rustications.I like Laudisi Petersons. They pribably make up most of the new pipes I've bought in the last few years. But I don't like their rustification which looks to me like scooped out divots. Cobblestone is an improvement but it could still be better. I think the Italians set the standard for rustification - e.g. Castello, Radiche, Brebbia, anyone of them really - and Peterson is not there yet.
As for me, I want this finish on an acrylic-stemmed Deluxe System.
