Sutliff Black and Gold. Which I believe was nicknamed "Longstreet" at the Gettysburg Cigar Company, where I made my first purchase.
Haven't had any since I finished that pouch, since it didn't do very much for me.

The first pipe tobacco I purchased was Captain Black Gold. I didn't get it to light, but it did manage to bite me anyway. After a few months of smoking better stuff, I tried it again in a cob out the target range out back: it tasted like amazingly cheap, stale tobacco, with a little flavoring. Haven't smoked it since, but I still enjoy the smell of the pouch.

The first good tobacco I smoked was either Carter Hall or BRM. I don't really have a rotation, but I still use Carter Hall on a new pipe or Falcon bowl. I smoke BRM fairly regularly: on my second tin now, with 2 more in the cellar and more coming in the mail this week.

Lane 1-Q. The first two ounces I purchased from the B&M are gone, but the first lb I got from Smoking Pipes is still there. I smoke it 5-6 times a year.

After the 1-Q I bought a bunch more. The ones I still smoke are Dunhill/Peterson Nightcap and Dunhill London Mixture.

The one I can’t smoke is Dunhill Durbar.

The ones I don’t smoke and don’t have in my cellar are Lane BCA, Lane Dark Red, Miyagi’s Mindfulness, Dunhill/Peterson My Mixture 965

I bought an estate Peterson 309 and a tin each of Nightcap, Frog Morton Across the Pond, and Penzance from my local Churchill’s. Unfortunately, none of these are in my current rotation, including the pipe.

My first go-round was with some cherry tobacco and a small Grabow my mom sent me in Afghanistan. Smoking helped keep the flies at bay.

When I really picked up a pipe, I went to the Tinderbox in Tacoma. I got North Sea, which is their name for a Lane blend, I believe, 1-Q that they also renamed, but can't remember, and finally McClelland Coyote Classic. I still smoke all 3, but not often...and I am almost out of Coyote Classic.

My first 3 pipes are still around, too: a Pete 03 from a bic lighter set, a Sav autograph 8 prince with a cumberland stem, and a Stanwell whose stem lasted 2 smokes before I bit through it because it was buffed to paper thin. I got another stem and it's in my stable. I smoke the Pete the most. 03 is my favorite shape of theirs.

My first bowl was Peterson Deluxe Mixture. That was from my first and only tin. My second bowl was Mac Baren Navy Flake, and that’s very much still in the rotation.

There were two blends I started with: MacBaren's Vanilla Cream and Cult's Blood Red Moon. The former was not to my liking and gave me some nasty bite, no doubt contributed by my complete lack of cadence. The latter only bit me when I was careless, and I enjoyed it more as a result. The former I don't bother with, but the latter is still in my rotation, if only smoked occasionally. To this day, I prefer to smoke BRM in a cob.

Mid-90's, bought a Grabow, and a pouch of Half and Half, a tin of MB Navy Flake I think, and a tin of Dunhills London Mixture. I still smoke Half and Half very occasionally, earlier this year I finished the last of my London Mixture tins, and I don't think I have any MacB in my cellar.

I miss London Mixture. Had I known...........
