I'm relatively new to pipe smoking and I figured this would be an interesting question to ask. What one brand/blend of tobacco do you think every pipe smoker should have (or at least try) in their arsenal? Being new I don't have the experience or an opinion on this and was more curious what everyone here would say. I understand not everyone likes the same things but there should be at least one tobacco everyone can pretty much agree on every piper having or trying at least once, right? So what do you think it would be?

The ones I see come up the most are 1Q, Captain Black White, Dunhill EMP, and Blackhouse.

I like 1-Q better than PA. Never had CH. SWR is a decent codger Burley, too. EMP was my first English and I Still like it. All the ones I saw mentioned were good, but the Mixture 79 is something not everyone appreciates. It is usually described as smoking grandmas perfume or a urinal cake.

I agree with fisher, keep it simple. Carter Hall, or Prince Albert are both good OTC blends.

Okay maybe I was being a bit facetious suggesting the 79, :nana: but I think there is a benefit to sampling some "infamous" blends for educational purposes. I find every blend that was "bad" to me helped steer me towards what I really like.
I'll suggest 1Q like others here. Very reliable.
