Burleys. Given that you're a newer smoker, I would stay away from Virginia-heavy blends and aromatics unless you use a filter. MM cobs have a wide open draft, and it's easy to smoke those two much too quickly. Even if you don't get tongue bite, they'll get too hot for you to appreciate the flavor.

I've enjoyed all types of blends in cobs. They seem to go really well with burley blends. So, how about Watch City Slices, C&D Burley Flake #3, and/or one of the European Burley flakes (Solani 656, HH Burley Flake, Wessex Burley Slice)?

I also enjoy Latakia blends in a cob, specifically the Country Gentleman model.

Hi all!

As I promised I keep you updated with this "cob-issue"
So I bought my first two Missouri Legend cobs, and I tried one of them tonight.

As most of you adviced to try burley-virginia forward blends, I smoked a fruity burley tobacco (that I use in briars).
The taste of the tobacco was more "clear", more tasteful and the smoke was pretty cool. In a few words, it was really a great experience to try this kind of pipe after using nothing but briars! Thank you all again for your patience and good advise concerning my question :)

I often prefer cobs to briars. Glad to hear you had a positive experience!?
Do you have any experience with the Missouri Meerschaum "ozark" series?( I ask it because you say that you prefer cobs and I suppose you've already tried the hardwood pipes, too.)

Yup, I'm a burley guy. Two of many suggestions, PC Russ O.'s Log Cabin and D&R's Two Timer, two burleys toasted twice. I do also enjoy and smoke Virginias, Va/Per's, and Va based English and Balkan, but burley is home plate for me. It's true.

I also like cobs for the classic OTC blends, probably my favourite right now would be SWR. Like others, I do tend to use cobs for aromatics and briar for other blends but it is not a hard and fast rule, more if a guideline.

I like them but last I heard they had been discontinued.
