LIke 64alex, I especially like Tabac-Manil Semois in a taller bow, my LaRocca poker or my MM freehand cob, for examples. It is a dry tobacco that burns a little faster, though I think the deep bowl may slow it down a bit, and also, I think having the bowl filtered through the leaf adds to the subtle taste. Semois is a Belgium burley variant. The deep bowls also work nicely with any burley or burley blend, such as C&D's Old Joe Krantz, Billy Budd, Big'n Burley, and others, and also with various OTC codger blends such as Granger, Iwan Ries Three Star Blue, Edward G. Robinson, and many others. So far, I've enjoyed Virginias in more average depth pipes with smaller bowls, but now that I've read this thread, maybe I'll try those in the deeper bowl too.
