Oh, someone mentioned something about 're hydrating'. Is that an option for regaining some of the topping?
The whiskey/rum/scotch is not for regaining the original topping but for re-hydrating the tobacco

with a substance that is aromatic.
I would have said distilled water but it sounds like you enjoy the flavorings.

It's not a big deal. Yes, you should immediately use a quart mason jar to store your bulk aromatics. However, in the airtight container that you have, spray water on the underside of the lid daily until the tobacco clumps when pinched. Yes, some of the aromatic is lost and you can't redeem it without the sauce. But, the tobacco is still good to be smoked.
