I guess it all depends on who gave you the pipe. Wife, girlfriend, you'd better keep it. Coworker who will never see your collection, put it up for sale. You might give it a try just to see if you like it. Maybe it will surprise you. I agree with @ashdigger, once its in your hands, you own it, and can do with it as you please.Hypothetical question here: What if someone gave you a pipe for gift, but it isn't something that you'd really like in your rotation. Do you regift it, sell it, bin it, etc.?
This!I've gifted a few estate pipes and whatever they do with it once it's in their hands, I don't care, it's theirs now.
I've been gifted pipes...a birth year Dunhill, a Peterson Christmas pipe and a Mr. Brog from my grandson, these are pipes I'll never dispose of. These were gifts that the person put the time and effort to gift to me, I'll cherish them.
